PART I: In this first video, Dr. Lopez provides a brief introduction to one of his compositions recorded in the PART II video. He talks about his philosophy and music background and how it relates to performing in general and to this piece in particular.  This presentation was given during his tenure as a piano teacher on the faculty at Musically Minded Academy in Oakland, California.

PART II: Here the composer performs his No. 5 from Series I of Pieces From A Distant Land.  This collection of pieces was written (and still being written) on a request from his mother for some "easy-to-play" pieces.  Although the composer didn't quite get the "easy-to-play" part, this piece turned out to be one of his mother's favorites.
